Patient drivers wanted.  That’s AAA’s message after new research confirms that 96% of drivers have taken aggressive actions behind the wheel over the past year.

After three months of silence, the famous Soda Springs Geyser is once again erupting. A mechanical failure had sidelined the world-famous man-made geyser, a popular attraction for both residents and visitors.

The geyser, which typically erupts every hour on the hour, stopped working on April 29 due to a pump problem. City officials announced on June 3rd that the issue was more serious than initially thought, requiring a complete replacement of the geyser’s mechanical and valve systems.

“We will hold Boise High School accountable for the psychological and emotional harm that its actions caused this teenage girl, who was understandably traumatized by the experience,” said Kevin Shupperd, a senior litigating attorney for the IFPC Legal Center. “Students cannot excel academically if they don’t feel safe at school. No girl should be forced to share school restrooms with biological males—full stop.”

“Idahoans elected me to protect families, uphold the Constitution, and ensure government follows the law,” said Attorney General Labrador. “The people of Idaho sent a message that they wanted to change the direction of the Attorney General’s office. When I took office, we began advising state agencies on legal compliance and setting our policies in place. While this former employee may have disagreed with our policy directions, the court found no basis for her claims. I will continue protecting Idaho families and ensuring government accountability.”

Idaho State Police are investigating a crash which killed 2 people and injured a juvenile.

The city of Victor’s Public Works crews are actively working to repair a broken water line located at the bridge of Crystal and Main streets.

As of 9:30 a.m, on Wednesday, crews successfully patched the line and began the flushing process.

The Custer County Sheriff’s Office is reporting a mudslide on Bayhorse Road, about 1 mile from the Bayhorse Townsite south of Challis.

Preliminary details are limited, but the National Weather Service is forecasting heavy rains along with a flash flood warning in place until around 7 PM tonight.

A serious crash has shut down East Highway 33, causing major traffic disruptions.

According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, the highway is closed in both directions from mile marker 107 to mile marker 131, from Newdale to Tetonia. The crash occurred near mile marker 129, bringing traffic to a complete stop.

A team led by the Southwest Research Institute and including University of Idaho’s Matthew Hedman, a professor of physics, discovered a new moon orbiting Uranus. The team used imagery captured from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) to visualize the planet’s 29th confirmed satellite, among the smallest known moons of Uranus.  

The Fremont County Board of Commissioners has unanimously voted to deny Ensign Hospitality’s request to build a 132-room hotel at Henry’s Lake Flats. The decision upholds the previous ruling by the county’s Planning and Zoning Commission, following significant public opposition to the project.

Businesses all throughout Idaho, known for their summer fun, are wrapping up as fall approaches. Heise Hot Springs, a popular local destination just outside of Ririe, had a bustling summer season. General Manager Sam Wilson attributes the record-breaking attendance to recent renovations.

Lower Valley Energy is reporting a power outage affecting at least 642 customers in the area between Irwin and Swan Valley. The outage was first reported at 11:12 AM.

Crews have reportedly been dispatched to the scene, but there is currently no estimated time for when power will be restored. The cause of the outage is still unknown; however, the National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for all of Southeast Idaho until August 28, 12:00 AM MDT due to the excessive amount of rainfall impacting the Intermountain West.

Rocky Mountain Power customers are set to receive a federal billing credit that could save them up to $51.87 annually on their power bills.

The power company has recently been authorized by the Idaho Public Utilities Commission to pass on the credit to certain residential and farm customers, according to a press release. The annual credit, which has increased from $7.93 million to $13.1 million, is scheduled to take effect from October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2028.

“Parents shouldn’t have to worry that their daughters will be forced to share restrooms with biological males while pursuing their education,” said Attorney General Labrador. “The court’s ruling ensures that Idaho’s common-sense law stays in effect while the lawsuit proceeds. We will continue to defend these protections until this case reaches its final resolution.”

Police in Buhl are actively investigating Vandalism at Buhl Skate Park. Authorities say Friday evening, August 22, 2025, between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., the park was vandalized with graffiti containing gang-related markings, racial slurs, and hate symbols.

Starting Tuesday, August 19, at 7 a.m., the city of McCammon will begin a vital upgrade to the city’s water system. To ensure safe and sanitary conditions, crews will shut off the old water main on Center Street while they connect the new line.
