The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) is pushing drivers to know which way they are driving. The new initiative comes after several cases of impaired or distracted driving led to wrong-way driving accidents or arrests.

People, on average, will witness something traumatic twice in their lifetimes. But first responders say they witness traumatic events on a regular basis, which can take a toll on a person emotionally.

Since 2016, there have been over 1,200 reports of police suicides across the country, according to a report by News Nation. That number comes from families who reported the deaths; nationwide, police believe this number is much higher.

The emotional survival training is designed to give first responders and law enforcement the tools to keep them safe emotionally.

The city of Rexburg is looking to better serve its community by investing in its employees. All week, city employees are taking special training courses, learning about work culture and how it impacts them.

The Madison County Emergency Management Agency is warning of potential flooding caused by snowmelt on the Rexburg Bench. The agency is reporting that the snowmelt has resulted in water running down the Bench, potentially affecting areas near “34000 South to 5000 South, East of the Archer Highway.”

“The building looks nice on the outside, and we’re excited about that,” Tietjen said. “But we are still going to be starting renovations on the inside… We’re one-fifth of the way through the project, and so we are still looking for a lot of donations and a lot of help to be able to accomplish that.”

Rexburg has been named as one of the safest college towns in the Nation.

Police in Rexburg are reminding the community to exercise caution after two teens had a “close call” crossing a rural intersection.

Dashcam video, shared to the Rexburg Police Department’s Facebook page, shows two teens race across the intersection.

“Our police department is one of the finest departments in the state, if not in the country,” Merrill told Local News 8. “We feel like they deserve a building that that merits the character of our police officers and just the great people that they are. They really deserve something better than what they’ve got right now…that’s why we’re doing this.”
