A 66-year-old woman from Nampa was hospitalized following a single-vehicle rollover crash on I-15 in Idaho Falls, last Thursday.

The crash happend near mile marker 120.5, where the woman, driving a 2019 Toyota RAV4, was traveling southbound at 11:08 A.M. on August 21. According to the Idaho State Police (ISP), she failed to negotiate a curve, overcorrected, and drove off the left shoulder of the road.

Today, August 21, the College of Eastern Idaho (CEI) is taking a major step forward in workforce development and STEM education.

At noon, in partnership with Battelle Energy Alliance (BEA) and Frontier Credit Union, CEI will unveil its new Future Tech Building, a facility dedicated to shaping the next generation of skilled professionals. Battelle Energy Alliance manages INL for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Energy.

“Subaru and AdoptAClassroom.org have been doing this for a number of years. Now we’re looking at somewhere around 950,000 students that have been served. We’ve done this here for the last three years and have really enjoyed working with this school,” said Wackerli Subaru Love Promise Coordinator Chad Mahoney.

With a new school year upon us, D-91 and the teachers union are expected to resume their negotiations and try to come to a new agreement.

The Idaho Falls Downtown Development Corporation (IFDDC) is moving forward with a revised parking improvement plan following extensive feedback from downtown business owners. The most significant change is the decision not to implement the proposed app-based paid parking for on-street spots at this time.
“We have heard the feedback and have been meeting with many of our downtown community members to better understand their current unique needs,” said Kerry Hammon, Executive Director of the IFDDC. Hammon noted that downtown parking has been a complex issue since 1971, and the current plan reflects a consensus to pause the on-street parking initiative for now. The option may be re-evaluated in the future, but there is no set timeline.

The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating a rash of recent thefts reportedly targeting storage units, vehicles, and small buildings.

Deputies have received multiple reports from the Idaho Falls, Ammon, and Swan Valley areas. Thieves have allegedly made off with valuable items, including a 1980s Honda CR60 motorcycle from a storage unit, as well as tools and fishing gear from unlocked vehicles and small buildings, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

“They will look forward to the ducks. This is like their favorite project for the year.”

A 27-year-old Idaho Falls man is dead following a late-night crash that may have involved street racing. The incident occurred last night, August 5, at a gas station parking lot near the 400 block of West 17th Street.

IFDDC hopes the new system will “improve parking availability and turnover for customers.” The funds the parking system makes will be used for parking infrastructure, maintenance, and public improvements. 

“Being in a place like this, I won’t have to fall behind anymore. I can just jump in my wheelchair and still accomplish everything.”

In an official announcement today (Monday, July 28, 2025), the Idaho Fish and Game has granted $100,000 total to various conservation and recreation-focused groups around the state. With a goal of taking care of the state’s wildlands for the public, Fish and Game says helping other organizations with similar goals is a win-win.

Idaho Falls Police made a massive drug seizure Friday, after a traffic stop led to the arrest of two Montana residents found with approximately 25 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in their vehicle.

Cody Davidson, 38, and Diane Walters, 50, both of Great Falls, Montana, are currently being held at the Bonneville County Jail, potentially facing serious drug trafficking charges following their arrests on July 11, 2025.

Two men were safely rescued this afternoon after their boat overturned on the Snake River, just below the falls near downtown Idaho Falls. Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies and Idaho Falls Fire were called to the Broadway Bridge around 1:30 pm after bystanders witnessed the boat overturn and two men inside plunge into the water.

Emergency crews were immediately dispatched to the scene. Fortunately, both men were able to reach a rocky outcropping and get out of the swift current before responders arrived.

Beginning Monday, July 21, the 1st Street Bridge in Ammon will be closed as crews complete construction of the bridge. The bridge will be closed for up to 6 weeks.

The Idaho Falls Zoo proudly welcomed two new lions, Kenya and Dixie, who made their official debut in the lion exhibit this week. The brother and sister pair come from a zoo in Texas and are now settling into their new home.

Beginning Sunday, July 13, Union Pacific Railroad will close Sunnyside Road at the railroad tracks east of the intersection with Yellowstone Highway to complete scheduled railroad track maintenance. The closure is expected to remain in place through Tuesday, July 15.
